Subtitles

Sky has been broadcasting subtitles since 1993. For our own content, in 2015/16, we provided subtitles on 87% of the content on average across 26 Sky linear channels (see the list on the right).

Subtitling on demand update

Following significant investment, we have increased subtitling for On Demand content from September 2016, both on Sky+HD and Sky Q set top boxes. Over the next few months, as we move towards our target of providing 80% coverage on Sky TV programmes and movies, we will refresh our on demand library, starting with our most popular content.

Making it easy to find subtitled On Demand content:

We have introduced new 'subtitled' sections within the Sky Cinema and Sky Box Sets areas to make it easier to find this new content while it is increasing. And remember that subtitled content has got the'S' symbol in the summary information, giving you a quick view of availability as you are flicking through content elsewhere too.

If you have a Sky+HD box, here is an example of what the section will look like for Sky Cinema. Simply navigate left or right to get to the subtitled section in Sky Box Sets and Sky Cinema.

If you have a Sky Q box, here is an example of what the section will look like for Sky Box Sets. Simply scroll down with your remote to get to the subtitled sections within Sky Box Sets and Sky Cinema.
