Accessible to all our customers
Dorothy Brownlie, Sky’s Accessibility Service Manager writes:
In June 2003 Sky launched its Accessibility Team. This is part of our efforts to make Sky accessible to all our customers. We have a dedicated telephone number, textphone, fax number and email address. You can find them all on our Contact Us page.
After launching the service, we decided to go out on the road to promote it. We’ve been to lots of road shows and exhibitions over the last eight years. Exhibitions we have attended include Naidex, Independent Living Scotland, No Limits and DNEX. It is a great opportunity to meet customers and raise awareness of our services which include the provision of alternative media, information on programmes carrying access services and our accessible remote control, many of which we have given to visitors who would benefit from the new features.
During exhibitions, which range from one day to three days, we speak to carers, health professionals and family members, students and teachers. It is very rewarding to hear the comments from people who visit our exhibition stand and have already registered with our helpline. It also give us an opportunity to encourage customers to call and register with us, so in the future they can contact us for help.
Our ambition is to carry on attending exhibitions and to make sure our disabled customers learn about our service. We have a great time promoting it. Thanks to all who have come to talk to us in the past and we hope to see you at a future event.
