Text Relay
Text relay is a service which allows deaf, hard of hearing and speech impaired people to contact others over the telephone using a Text Phone. Text Phones allow the user to type a message which is either sent automatically to another Text Phone or is translated by an operator to a standard phone.
How to use text relay:
• Calling from a Text Phone to a standard phone. The text will be sent to a relay assistant who will translate your message into speech
• Calling from a standard phone to a Text Phone. The caller will be connected to a relay assistant who will translate the speech into text
• Calling from a Text Phone to another Text Phone. The text will be sent automatically between Text Phones.
• For full user details, see: http://www.textrelay.org

Charges for Text relay
The cost of a text relay call will be no more than the equivalent price had the call been made directly without the use of a relay service. A rebate is applied to the text element of calls originating via 18001 or 18002, when either or both ends are in text mode. The rebate will only apply to parts of the call which are in excess of the minimum charge.
For example, a call that is 50% text (on the part of the call greater than the minimum charge) to a destination with 60% rebate will attract 30% rebate (to the charges above the minimum charge).
